When you live near something for a long time and that thing is singular, it becomes "The Thing" - in Canada, we talk about "The Border" (there's only one that matters, so it's THE border), in Vancouver, we talk about "The Island" (Vancouver Island, obviously), families will talk about The Baby, Tiffany and I have The Cat - I think, kind of funny, all of humanity has The Pandemic as of just recently, and The Moon permanently. There are many moons, but this moon? THE moon.
