Just watched The Girl Who Leapt Through Time and it was fine, but it's commonly brought up in comparison with Your Name and I thought Your Name was a lot better
SPOILERS FOR THE GIRL WHO LEAPT THROUGH TIME
my big complaint is that Makoto gets a Deus Ex Machina save at the last minute:
she uses her powers incautiously, gets Kosuke killed, and if she were the one to learn a big lesson and save the day through personal sacrifice and growth (or NOT learn a big lesson and oops, it's a tragedy) that's a complete arc - but instead, Chiaki is ALSO a time jumper and he saves the day, and the rest of the story is kind of just Chiaki glazing

my imaginary rewrite of the story would fully pull act 3, have Makoto live for years with the pain and trauma of accidentally having killed one of her best friends by using time travel irresponsibly, meet someone, have children, and then and only then regain her time travel powers:
now she can go back and save Kosuke, but at the cost of fifteen years of her life and her own child being erased
